Every company owns

IP

Understanding and protecting your intellectual property can be essential to the success of your company. It increases the value of your assets, decreases your legal and other spend, and helps you focus on running a successful business. Protecting your assets is more than filing a patent or a trademark application, it requires that you protect the value of your intellectual property as part of the services you render.

IT

Whether you make or maintain software, or just use third party software products, you want to make sure to protect your and your customers data, your technology, and minimize risk for your company and your customers.

We are US lawyers. We serve companies globally, with a focus on US and German companies.

Our clients

We advise software developers, SAAS and PAAS providers, e-commerce, data protection and privacy companies. We advise creative agencies, PR companies, coaches, consultants, media and services providers, toy makers, beauty, fashion and companies, Amazon sellers and brick and mortar companies. We are grateful for and proud of our long-term relationships with our clients.

About

I have had the pleasure of working for big firms, small firms, and companies. For the last fifteen years, I have been self-employed. I have had the privilege and pleasure of learning a ton from my clients and colleagues, building a network of attorneys and experts that has been invaluable for my professional life and benefitted my clients. I have extensive experience in the field of intellectual property and technology law, regularly advising clients on trademark and copyright law as well as software and technology licensing, and transactional matters.

I have successfully prosecuted hundreds of trademark applications and negotiated almost as many commercial agreements. I have had the (sometimes) pleasure of successfully negotiating contracts with Fortune 50 companies, working closely with my client’s leadership teams, general counsel, as well as their sales, marketing and procurement teams. I work well and directly with my client’s teams on the ground, and company leadership, with solo entrepreneurs and companies. I am proud of the fact that I’m not called the department of no all that often, and that I have long-standing relationships with most of my clients, working with them from inception to long-standing success.

Background

I have been practicing as an attorney in New York for more than 20 years, and really enjoy my work. A native New Yorker (NY state), I’ve lived in the city and Brooklyn with my family for more than 20 years after growing up in Germany and spending a year in England. I’ve never lived anywhere for longer than I have in Brooklyn. While I very much like being a lawyer, I try not to be too much of a lawyer when I’m not working, especially when spending time with my family. Sometimes, that’s not successful.

Career

Studies

I am admitted to practice in Germany, in New York and in the Southern District of New York. I graduated cum laude from Fordham University School of Law with an LL.M. and graduated from Johann-Wolfgang Goethe Universität Frankfurt am Main, Germany. During my studies in Frankfurt, I spent a year studying at Leicester University, UK.

Teaching

I have had the pleasure of teaching intellectual property courses for master’s programs at Columbia University from 2017 to 2024, in New York at Northeastern University. I have presented courses on intellectual property at the German American Chamber of Commerce in New York, and presented on intellectual property and technology law topics at WeWork and elsewhere.

Memberships

I am a member of GRUR, ECTA, the NY State Bar Association, and a have had the pleasure of serving as a board member of the German School Brooklyn and served as a board member of the German Forum in the past.

I am grateful to have been selected from 2021 to 2025.
